Settings: make Alexandria yours
Settings control Alexandria's file-first behavior.
General
- Storage: notes are Markdown files in date-based folders; media lives in
media/.
- IDs: every note and tag has a stable ID, so links keep working after renames.
- Tags are notes. A tag can define properties that become fields on notes using that tag.
- Property types: boolean, select, multi-select, date, number, money, string.
Search
- Find notes and tags by title, body text, properties, or partial ID.
- Use filters to narrow results in the CLI and app.
Safety
- Delete moves items to
trash/ first, so mistakes can be restored.
Tip: prefer simple, readable titles. IDs do the durable linking.
