Settings control how Alexandria behaves. Here's what you can expect in the core MVP:

General:

  • Storage layout: notes are stored on disk with date-based directories. Attachments live next to notes.
  • Unique IDs: each note (and tag) has a stable ID so links keep working even if you rename things.

Tag properties:

  • Types: select, date, money, text.
  • Use: tags can define properties. When you apply a tag, its properties become fields you can fill on the note.

Search:

  • Partial match: you can find notes/tags by part of their title or ID.
  • Exclusions: filter out terms to narrow results (used by UIs).

Safety:

  • Trash: deleting moves items to Trash first, so you can recover mistakes.

Tip: prefer simple, readable titles. IDs do the heavy lifting for linking.
